Top points to Ben Abeleven for his persistence to source funding for the Burgh Health Hub.
Initially built as a Helensburgh squash and leisure centre, and now 40 years old, Ben's ownership over the past seven years has seen a committed investment of money, time, and physical improvements for the gym, along with the refinement of Ben's Burgh vision .
Ben worked with the Successful Grants team to submit a very detailed proposal to the Office of Sport NSW's Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund. All of his efforts were rewarded when The Burgh Healthy Hub received over $2 million toward its $4 million gymnasium upgrade.
Now his 2016 vision can finally be realised, expanding the gym in a multi-phase upgrade that will bring immediate health choices, and benefits, to Helensburgh's locals and visitors.
BENEFITS OF THE BUILD
- 9m ceiling heights (for circus classes)
- New Gym floor
- Dedicated dance/drama room
- Dedicated indoor parkour space
- Ability to hold Gymnastics Competitions/Dance Eisteddfods

With a 2 year build plan, the start of phase 1 of 3 will start in 2023!
Congratulations Ben - it was a pleasure working with you. We're keen for more sport infrastructure grant wins as we look forward to the 2032 Olympics.
